RME Old Stuff, New Findings. Efficiency in Clinical Orthodontics. Class II, Back or Forth? It Matters!
|St. Petersburg||7-8 October 2016||Photoreport|
“RME Old Stuff, New Findings”
What happens to the patient skull when you expand rapidly the palate? The presentation will illustrate forces and skeletal movements provoked by RME, then it will be presented and explained a different RME appliance. Finally there will be an evidence based explanation on why, when and how applying this technique.
“Efficiency in Clinical Orthodontics”
Dr. Andrews developed the Straight Wire technique in the seventies in order to avoid excessive wire bending as proposed by Dr. Tweed, since, brackets and wires have dramatically changed, but the principles of SW remained almost unchanged. In this presentation a technique that maximize efficiency will be presented. In addition, modern orthodontics tend to lessen the impact of patient compliance during treatment. Few simple, no compliance and efficient techniques will be highlighted and clinically demonstrated: the latest scientific evidences will be presented on how to manage anchorage with and without the use of TADs.
“Class II, Back or Forth? It Matters!”
Traditionally, Class II malocclusion can be treated distalizing the maxillary arch or enhancing mandibular growth. Our researches on molar distalization in growing and nongrowing individuals, with or without TADs, will be presented together with our studies on patients treated with the Herbst appliance with or without skeletal anchorage.
Finally a limited literature review will be presented and personal conclusions will be drawn.
• “RME Old Stuff, New Findings”: The participants will be informed on the reaction of the human skull during and after a RME procedure, they will be able to chose the best timing for RME.
• “Efficiency in Clinical Orthodontics”: The participants will be informed on the new scientific evidence on wire/brackets interaction, they will be able to apply these information in the clinical practice.
• “Class II, Back or Forth? It Matters!”: the participants will be informed on different type of molar distalizers and on the researches that compares them with and without TADs, moreover they will be informed on mandibular incisor anchorage control when a mandibular protractor device is used.
